Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett added another unplanned fall onstage to his collection of mishaps during the band’s headlining set at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland last night, June 19th. Yesterday’s slip took place during a performance of the 1983 Metallica setlist staple “Seek & Destroy“. While he missed a subsequent riff or two, Hammett appears to have made a quick recovery, with the song being the penultimate track of the night. Metallica are due back onstage tomorrow, June 21st, at the very same venue.
Hammett himself has taken the slip in stride, sharing the below Instagram video of the incident on his own Instagram story, complete with the caption ‘Slip & Destroy’. In the footage, you can also see that the incident wasn’t entirely Hammett‘s fault, as he rested his foot on a cover that gave way under his bodyweight, rather than a trip or a stumble.
