Beartooth‘s new single “Bullshit” has begun streaming online. While the group had intended to launch it with an elaborate lyric video, those plans were scuttled early yesterday (June 18th), after finding out the artist they hired to animate the clip employed AI in creating it.
Thus, the band’s vocalist Caleb Shomo and his brother Luke were left to scramble to come up with an alternate clip. Caleb addressed the matter online today, assuring fans that they did authorize the usage of AI in their art.
That new last-minute lyric video is now available, with Caleb quoted as saying of the following of the song itself:
“‘Bullshit‘ is a familiar song I’ve written many times. I wanted to revisit the musical style that was the catalyst of so much healing and discovery in my earlier years of Beartooth. It’s an exercise in letting the truth out about what you’re sick of in your own life. Sometimes the easiest way to deal with something is to yell about it as loud as you can. Can confirm, it felt as amazing to do this exercise now as it did when I was 19.”
Beartooth have an August 28th release date in place for their new studio album “Pure Ecstasy“, with much of the early discourse around the album being centered around Shomo‘s decision to publicly come out as a “proudly gay man” earlier this year.
