Rising pop star/actress Olivia Rodrigo has already accomplished more than most could dream of in the music world in her 23 years of age. It would also seem that her mother Jennifer Rodrigo has been there championing her daughter on throughout her meteoric rise.
However, while Olivia received top billing at last year’s flagship ‘Lollapalooza‘ festival in Chicago, IL, Jennifer found herself faced with a set conflict between her own daughter’s crowning moment and the first ‘Lollapalooza‘ set from nü-metal pioneers Korn since 1997. Ultimately, the elder Rodrigo chose to catch the Bakersfield, CA natives, with the blessing of her daughter.
Olivia relayed the story on last night’s (June 10th) episode of ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!‘, stating [transcribed by theprp.com]:
“My mom likes so many crazy metal bands, which you would never guess just looking at her. I headlined ‘Lollapalooza‘ last year, which was so awesome and such a dream of mine. But they have like headliners go at the same time. So, like on this specific day, it was me and Korn headlining at the same time on like opposite stages.
And everyone’s like, ‘Oh, that’s perfect. You know, the Olivia fans will go see Olivia, the Korn fans will go see Korn. You know, there’s really no overlap.’ But there was one overlap, and it was my mom. My mom skipped my show to go see Korn! I let her do it, I’m happy she got her night.”
