Mastodon gave their surprise released new single “Your Ghost Again” its live debut onstage last night, June 03rd, in Prague, CZE. The progressive sludge metal band unveiled that track online this past Monday, June 01st, with it serving in part as a tribute to their late guitarist/vocalist Brent Hinds. This new song is expected to be the precursor to the group’s forthcoming ninth studio album, which will be their first without Hinds. Tragically, Hinds passed away in a motorcycle accident in August 2025 after a bitter split with Mastodon several months prior.
Ahead of bringing this song to the stage for the first time, bassist/vocalist Troy Sanders told the audience, “This is the first song in our entire career that wasn’t worked on with our friend Brent — he passed away last year, and he is no longer with us. So we’d like to do a new song for you guys and we’d like to dedicate it to Brent because we miss him and we love him also.”
