The Smashing Pumpkins ringleader Billy Corgan will be bringing his orchestral/operatic production of The Smashing Pumpkins‘ diamond-certified third studio album “Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness‘ overseas this September. Corgan brought that interpretation of the album to the stage last fall as part of the 30th anniversary celebrations for that landmark alternative rock album.

This new round of shows will unfold as follows:

09/01 London, UK – Royal Festival Hall
09/02 London, UK – Royal Festival Hall
09/06 Antwerpen, BEL – Queen Elizabeth Hall (two shows)
09/08 Paris, FRA – Salle Pleyel
09/09 Paris, FRA – Salle Pleyel
09/11 Madrid, SPA – Palacio Vistalegre

Presales will be up tomorrow May 12th at 10:00am BST. General onsales will commence through the week, with Antwerp and Paris to go on sale this Wednesday, May 13th at 10:00am CET. The London and Madrid shows will go on sale this Thursday, May 14th at 10:00am BST.

This latest production will see some returning faces from last fall’s live performances. Baritone Ed Parks will be performing at the London, Belgium and France stops. Soprano Sydney Mancasola, mezzo-soprano Zoie Reams and tenor Dominick Valdes Chenes will be performing throughout the run. Meanwhile, baritone Dean Murphy will be appearing at the closing Spain stop only.

Corgan said of taking this production international:

“The success of translating ‘Mellon Collie‘ into operatic and classical form has been one of the most satisfying experiences of my life, where on each of the seven sold-out nights in Chicago we’d finish within the raucous wave of a standing ovation. So to now take it on the road, and to Europe, too says this magical dream doesn’t have to end.”

Conductor James Lowe added:

“It has been so gratifying to discover how the nuances and layers of ‘Mellon Collie‘ reveal themselves in fresh new ways in these symphonic, choral and operatic settings. To now have the opportunity to perform this work in Europe with world-class musicians in such important venues is nothing short of thrilling.”
