Metalcore mavens Zao have officially announced their forthcoming new covers EP “Pillars” for a June 26th digital release. After recently overcoming an erroneous AI-related snafu with a digital distributor for this effort, the band have unveiled their plans for it on social media. They also shared a tantalizing tease of what else they have in store.
Notably this effort finds the band tackling at least one track with direct ties to their current lineup, as guitarist/vocalist Scott Mellinger previously played in Creation Is Crucifixion. A studio video released by Zao this week indicated that cover will be of “The Data Body“.
Here’s what Zao had to say today, April 30th:
“Now that the chaos is over. We can now safely tell you that June 26th will see the release of a 4-song EP called Pillars. It will be digital. There will be a 10” vinyl (you know how vinyl goes, may not be ready to go by 26th but you will have pre-order options). Zao performing songs that inspired us in the mid 90s from the rust belt of western PA: Creation Is Crucifixion, Passover, Puritan and Abnegation.
We have a few other “covers” projects rolling out this year while we are working on the next album(s?)
You have been warned.”
