Divisive shock rocker Marilyn Manson launched his spring headlining tour last night (April 22nd) at the Yaamava’ Theater in Highland, CA, and he did so with some new personnel backing him. For the time being at least, Reba Meyers (Code Orange) appears to have vacated her role as guitarist. In her place was Nick Annis (Dorothy, Kesha, etc.).
Meyers has not addressed her absence, but fan speculation of her continued involvement in the Manson‘s touring lineup began weeks ago, when her shows opening for The Black Queen showed obvious scheduling conflicts with Manson‘s tour.
Last night also saw Tim Skold return to the band, albeit this time on bass and backing vocals. Skold previously left the band in 2008. His reinstatement was highly expected, given Manson‘s previous social media teases.
Meanwhile, with guitarist Tyler Bates having exited Manson‘s touring band earlier this year, Piggy D. has since shifted over to guitars. He had previously overseen the bass and backing vocal duties now held down by Skold. Gil Sharone remained behind the drum kit for the set.
Speaking of which, the setlist for last night’s show featured a few live returns, including the first performance of “(s)AINT” off of Manson‘s 2003 album “The Golden Age Of Grotesque” in over 20 years. Here’s what was played:
“Nod If You Understand“
“Disposable Teens“
