Iron Maiden won’t be appearing at their induction into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame this November. The British heavy metal legends have had a bit of contentious relationship with the Rock Hall over the years, with vocalist Bruce Dickinson infamously stating of it back in 2018:
“I actually think the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame is an utter, complete load of bollocks to be honest with you.
It’s run by a bunch of sanctimonious bloody Americans who wouldn’t know rock’n’roll if it hit them in the face. They need to stop taking Prozac and start drinking fucking beer!”
While the band’s camp were gracious enough upon being announced as an inductee earlier this week, they’ll actually be out on tour in Australia during the November 14th induction ceremony in Los Angeles, CA. After years of being overlooked, Iron Maiden first scored nominations to enter the Rock Hall in 2021 and 2023, with this third nomination finally correcting what many have felt is a longtime snub from the hall.
Speaking to Billboard this week, the band’s manager Rod Smallwood confirmed their absence from that induction ceremony, stating:
“As the most observant have already noticed, the band will be on tour in Australia around the November date of the induction ceremony for the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in Los Angeles. In accepting, Iron Maiden made it very clear to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame that the fans always come first and that the shows will, of course, go on. We would like to assure all our fans in Australasia that the Australian and New Zealand dates will remain unaffected and we look forward to bringing the ‘Run For Your Lives‘ tour to them on the penultimate stop of our 50th-anniversary celebrations.”
Members of Iron Maiden both past and present will be receiving the honor of induction this year, including ex-vocalist Blaze Bayley, and late drummer Clive Burr and vocalist Paul Di’Anno, among others. The full roster of bandmembers set for induction includes:
