In a highly expected development, avant-garde metal outfit Mr. Bungle were recently joined onstage by Avenged Sevenfold vocalist M. Shadows. The latter multi-platinum alternative metal band personally selected Mr. Bungle to open their Latin American touring this January/February. Avenged Sevenfold themselves covered Mr. Bungle‘s “Retrovertigo” back in 2017, with Shadows at the time rightfully hailing that group’s vocalist Mike Patton, “one of the greatest vocalists of our generation.”
That Patton and co. dusted that 1999 song off for its first live performance since 2000 during their January 15th, 2026 show in Zappopan, Mexico was a strong indicator that this meeting of the minds would eventually come to pass.
Last night, February 03rd, during a tour closing performance at the Movistar Arena in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Shadows stepped in on vocals for a partial performance of that track during Bungle‘s set. Fan-filmed footage of that has since emerged below:
