Sunn O)))‘s first new album since 2019 has been dubbed a self-titled affair and will arrive on April 03rd through Sub Pop. Co-produced and mixed by the band and Brad Wood (Sunny Day Real Estate, Hum), that tenth studio album overall is being preceded by the new single, “Glory Black“. The drone metal band’s Stephen O’Malley stated:
“On this album for the first time all of the instrumentation was performed by Greg and I. All of the records have our leadership and direction, of course, but this time around, it was almost like this crucible of ideas that was really at the core of what we’ve been doing.”
Speaking on opting to record the effort as a duo, his bandmate Greg Anderson commented:
“What’s been happening with our performances over the last couple years with the two of us and no other collaborators or players has been really fresh and exciting. There’s been a lot of development. A lot of that was unexpected. And a lot of things that happened in the studio were really exciting and different from what we had been playing live, as well.”

An initial touring campaign on that album has also just been rolled out with the following dates confirmed thus far with additional stops pending. Tickets will be available this Friday, January 16th at 10:00am local time.
