Tommy Vext has spilled the proverbial tea surrounding his upcoming new project and its ties to his former outfit Bad Wolves on social media. Earlier this year, industry rumors had indicated that Vext and fellow Bad Wolves alumnus, guitarist Chris Cain, had been planning to rebuild the the multi-platinum alternative metal band with Vext back on vocals.

The timing was certainly opportune. Both guitarist Doc Coyle and bassist/vocalist Kyle Konkiel announced their exit this past April. Vocalist/guitarist Daniel “DL” Laskiewicz also exited, joining Falling In Reverse in June. That left the band down to founding member, drummer John Boecklin, along with guitarist AJ Rebollo, and bassist Kevin Creekman.

According to comments on Instagram made by Vext in recent weeks (see below), Vext and co. offered Boecklin a million dollars to gain the rights to the Bad Wolves name, but Boecklin ultimately decided against the sale after considering it for over a month.

Vext stated:

“…We offered a million dollars for the name back and John changed his mind after 6 weeks. It was fairly confusing, but we wish him well and good luck with Sarah and Javier!”

Reportedly, the Javier mentioned above is Javier Reyes of Animals As Leaders. Current fan speculation has thus far pointed to the vocalist being Sarah JoAnne of anchor.thought, though there’s been no official clarification yet. In another comment, Vext further went on to state:

“It’s not a joke the singer (they) is a great vocalist and the new guitarist is from a prog band called animals as leaders. I’m sure it will be a cool new band just not sure why they are calling it bad wolves since Doc, Kyle, Chris, DL, Max and I have all left left

But John can do what he wants just not sure how the audience is gonna react.”

Vext said in a separate comment:

DL quit and joined falling in reverse. Doc quit and joined Snot. Kyle got a corporate gig. Chris quit a second time and formed a new band with me. John hired a chick singer now the drummer is the only original member.

Hopefully the new record kicks ass and they don’t go further woke”

Vext himself is thought to have previously telegraphed his intentions for Bad Wolves after auditioning bandmates via covers of Bad Wolves songs this past August. At the time however, Vext stated those auditions were intended for a new band with Cain, which he has since been teasing on social media as of late with three mystery members (see below.)

Vext had a contentious history with Bad Wolves, with his role as their frontman coming to a close in 2021. That split followed bad blood emerging over his divisive political commentary and beliefs, as well as a domestic violence lawsuit and other tensions between himself and members of the band spilling over into the public eye.

Dueling lawsuits between Vext and the band’s camp followed and were resolved in 2021. However, legal tensions once again flared up between the two parties back in 2024, as yet another war of words played out on social media between Vext and then members of the group.
