This past weekend saw British heavy metal legends Judas Priest wrap up their North American co-headlining tour with shock rock icon Alice Cooper. That run found Judas Priest not only celebrating the work of others, but also being celebrated themselves. During that trek, the group donated $100,000 USD to the Los Angeles Fire Department (see below,) stating:

This week, Judas Priest proudly presented a donation check to the Los Angeles Fire Department, honoring the brave men and women who risk their lives every day to keep our communities safe.
The band is endlessly grateful for the dedication, courage, and sacrifice shown by first responders — true defenders of the faith in every sense of the word.
Thank you, LAFD, for all that you do!

However, the closing dates of that run also found the Rock & Roll Hall Of Famers themselves being celebrated in the city of Albuquerque, NM. Judas Priest were the latest recipients of the keys to that city ahead of their October 23rd set at the Isleta Amphitheater. The band received that honor from the city’s metal-loving mayor Tim Keller, who awarded the same honor to Iron Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson and his bandmate Tanya O’Callaghan this past September.

With that tour having wrapped up last night, October 26th, in The Woodlands, TX, Judas Priest are expected to take some well-deserved downtime before setting their sights on their their upcoming 20th studio album.
