‘Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home‘, a new documentary on the late great heavy metal icon Ozzy Osbourne that was scheduled to air today, August 18th, has been postponed just hours ahead of its planned air date. BBC were due to premiere that documentary, before shuffling out its planned airing with no reason provided. Filming for the series took place across a period of three years, originally under the title of ‘Home To Roost‘.
While the initial idea was to chronicle Ozzy‘s latter years and his family’s decision to relocate back to the UK from the United States, the realities of his declining health led the project to instead pivot into becoming a documentary feature. Speaking of the doc earlier this month, Clare Sillery, BBC Head of Commissioning, Documentaries, stated:
“We are honoured to have had the opportunity to film with Ozzy and his family. The film captures an intimate glimpse into their journey as they prepare to return to the UK. It features family moments, humour, reflection and shows the enduring spirit that made Ozzy a global icon. We hope it brings comfort and joy to Ozzy’s fans and viewers as they remember and celebrate his extraordinary life.”
Osbourne passed away on July 22nd as a result of cardiac arrest, just weeks after performing an all-star farewell concert that honored both his solo career and the works of his pioneering heavy metal band Black Sabbath.
