One More Satellite, the new project from Stone Temple Pilots guitarist Dean DeLeo and vocalist Pete Shoulder of Sloper fame, will have their self-titled debut album out on July 18th through Symphonic. Their debut single, “Paper Over The Cracks“, went up this morning and and a video for it can be found below.
The duo are said to have taken their moniker from the lyrics of “Counterfeit Sky“, the 2016 single by space rockers Failure. DeLeo spoke of how this record came to be, offering:
“I was simply sitting on some songs I wanted to record. What started out as an instrumental album, quickly changed soon after Pete and I chatted. He was going to sing on a song or two, then wound up singing on eight of the ten on the record.”
Shoulder added:
“I was excited to hear the new music Dean wanted to collaborate on. We’ve worked together in the past and it’s always been an absolute pleasure making music with him. The stuff he comes up with is so interesting, with so many beautiful, unexpected, twists and turns. It’s very inspiring to write to and pushes me into realms that I would never usually think of exploring. I’m very proud of the album we’ve made.”
The ten-song album wound up being a bit of a family affair for DeLeo, whose son Rocco took on the drumming for “Drowning Out The Sun“, “Willow Mae” and “Spit It Out“. His daughter June also lent a brief guest vocal to “Your Call“. Dean‘s Stone Temple Pilots bandmate Eric Kretz sat in on drums on “Seranade“, while Brian Tichy took on the studio drumming for the rest of the tracks.
