Multi-platinum occult rockers Ghost have pulled off an impressive feat with their sixth studio album “Skeletá“. The Swedish outfit have just debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200, amassing an impressive 86,000 album-equivalent units during the record’s first week of availability on the chart. A staggering 89% of that haul was fueled by traditional album sales.

This marks a chart high for the band, who previously topped out at #2 with 2022’s “Impera“. Billboard report that 77,000 copies of that tally came from album sales, while an additional 9,000 stemmed from streaming equivalent album units, equaling 12.45 million streams of the album’s songs. With over 15 vinyl variants of “Skeletá” on offer, vinyl accounted for just over 44,000 copies sold.

With the impressive haul in place, Ghost are the first hard rock artist in four years to hit #1 on the Billboard 200, with the last being AC/DC‘s “Power Up” back in November of 2020. Ghost‘s previous album “Impera” opened back in March of 2022 with 70,000 album-equivalent units, 63,000 of which were album sales.
