Platinum-certified prog rockers Coheed And Cambria are being honored with the key to the city of their hometown of Nyack, NY today, April 13th. The mayor of that village, Joe Rand, is set to hand that honor to the band this afternoon. The group are scheduled to perform acoustically at the Nyack SpringFest Street Fair.
A press release on the matter said of today’s festivities:
‘SpringFest will also be Coheed and Cambria Day in Nyack. Internationally renowned rock band Coheed and Cambria will return to the Village of Nyack, the community that nurtured their talents and gave them their earliest notoriety, to accept the Key to the Village and celebrate April 13th as the newly declared Coheed and Cambria Day.
At the SpringFest Street Fair, Coheed and Cambria will perform a short acoustic set to commemorate the event. Vocalist and primary songwriter, Claudio Sanchez, is a Nyack High School Alumnus. The band got their start at a weekly youth event sponsored by the Nyack Center called the Backdoor that showcased their talents in front of an audience composed mostly of teenagers from all over the tri-state area.’
