Chepang have locked in a record deal with Relapse and are set to issue their label debut “Jhyappa” on May 23rd. While based in Queens, NY, the grindcore outfit hail from Kathmandu, Nepal and have dubbed their music ‘immigrindcore’.
The band had the following to say about their new label arrangement and the below debut of the video combining their the two new tracks “Parichaya 2.0” / “Shakti (Force)“:
“Chepang is really stoked and thankful to Relapse Records and everyone involved for taking us in as a part of their family and roster. We are looking forward to the future and carrying on this ‘pursuit of understanding one’s authentic self’ through this video and the record.”
Kevin Bernsten (Full Of Hell, Integrity sat behind the boards during the recording sessions for the album and also took on the mix. Speaking on the record, which finds the band singing in Nepali, guitarist Kshitiz Moktan commented, “This record is more personal. [It’s] about “trying to relearn everything about yourself, releasing all your negative energy inside you.”
