For those who are wondering what’s next, alternative metal band Chevelle have confirmed their plans for a follow-up single to their just released track, “Rabbit Hole (Cowards Pt. 1)“. That aforementioned song is the first aural offering to be shared from the band’s forthcoming tenth studio album. Current plans have that effort tentatively arriving around August, though an exact date has yet to be disclosed.

Per a new interview with Loudwire Nights, the next single from that record has been titled “Jim Jones (Cowards Pt. 2)“, with the group describing it as being “a lot heavier” than this initial bow. Meanwhile, that discussion has also found the group also distancing themselves from the upcoming Record Store Day reissue of their 1999 debut album “Point #1“. That effort has long been a thorny issue for group, due to a lengthy ownership dispute.

First arriving back in May of 1999 through the now defunct Squint Entertainment label, a power struggle within the that venture led to the album’s rights being pulled into legal battles, with Squint‘s shuttering in 2001 and much of its assets later being acquired by Warner Records. However, according to the band those assets eventually went on change hands once again.

The band’s drummer Sam Loeffler told Loudwire Nights that they were unaware of this new reissue and have no involvement in the matter.

“We actually have nothing to do with that at all. We didn’t even know what was happening. The person that owns that, we don’t even know who that is.”

He continued:

“The company that owned that label that owned that record with us originally sold it to somebody else and then they sold it to somebody else, but they never would allow us to even have it. So we are literally no part of it and I’m pretty sure that guy is not paying us anything or doing anything that he is supposed to be doing.”

During the discussion it was also revealed that one of the owner’s of “Point #1” over the decades insisted the band were $700,000 in debut for the album, however, the group clarified that only $17,000 was spent to make the effort.

Squint/Curb are listed as the parties behind this upcoming April 12th first-ever vinyl release of the record, which is being limited to a run of 1800 copies on lemonade colored vinyl. Back in the summer of 2024 Sam mentioned that the band have discussed re-recording “Point #1 with their current label home of Alchemy Recordings, allowing them to at least have some form of ownership over the songs again. It is unclear if they plan to proceed with those plans.
