Multi-platinum occult metal band Ghost promised a ‘phantasmagoric spectacle’ tonight with the unveiling of their new single “Satanized“. In addition to the expected audio/visual offering, the group also provided the first glimpse at their revamped attire and the latest persona to ascend to fronting the group: Papa V Perpetua. As is tradition, mastermind Tobias Forge has assumed that new mantle for this latest round of touring.
This latest clip was complemented by the the 19th chapter of the group’s ongoing web series, which fleshes out the saga of their clergy. With the new music, comes word that the band’s sixth studio album has been christened “Skeletá” and will be arriving on April 25th through Loma Vista.
The band’s mastermind Tobias Forge once again assumed his pseudonym of Gene Walker to produce this new outing, which features mixing by Andy Wallace (Nirvana, Linkin Park) and Dan Malsch (Avenged Sevenfold, Gojira).
A press blurb describes the album as folows:
‘Ghost‘’s sixth psalm, ‘Skeletá‘, is its most unflinchingly introspective work to date. Where previous albums dealt largely with chronicling and/or observing outward facing subject matter—such as Impera’s meditations on the rise and fall of empires and its predecessor Prequelle’s evocations of the ravages of era-defining plagues—Skeletá’s lyrics render the distinct individual emotional vistas of each of its 10 songs in one-on-one fashion, at times as if in a dialogue with oneself in a mirror. The end result is a singular collection of timeless, universal sentiments, all filtered through a prism of a uniquely personal point of view.’
