Miss Fortune vocalist Mikey Sawyer is back in the news for alleged abuse allegations. A woman identifying herself as an ex of his shared this trove of photos, videos and legal documents this week, while publicly alleging that Sawyer was responsible for the abuse.
In that Google drive are various documents, recordings of Sawyer, and photos of injuries allegedly suffered at the hands of Sawyer. There’s even copies of apparent protective orders filed with the police against Sawyer.
Today, December 13th, saw Sawyer issue a statement of his own against his ex in response to these latest allegations, claiming that he himself was a victim of abuse in the relationship. He further goes on to claim that his ex violated a restraining order he himself filed against her. His statement reads as follows:
“To my supporters,
I’ve stayed silent for years, fearing the fallout of speaking up, but after everything that’s happened since 2021, I can no longer remain quiet. It’s time to set the record straight once and for all.
In 2014, after my band Miss Fortune was dropped by Sumerian Records, we were wrongfully smeared by the label and it’s CEO, Ash Avildsen. They preferred to virtue signal and use us as pawns, and have totally ruined our trajectory as a band. I was falsely accused of domestic abuse in the aftermath—accusations that led to years of harassment and death threats. Despite all the lies, I’ve always tried to be a good person.
In 2018, I trusted someone who turned out to be a manipulative “mentor,” leading to further rumors and false accusations. My career was hijacked by people only interested in using me for their own gain. By 2019, I signed with We Are Triumphant, but the deal was exploitative, leaving me with no support and no earnings from my work. I was unfairly blamed for things beyond my control, including issues with merchandise and shipping.
In my personal life, I fell into a toxic relationship, and after being assaulted by my ex and her brothers in 2022/2023, I realized I’d been manipulated and lied to by the people I trusted most. My life and career continued to spiral, losing my studio and my direction.
Despite everything, I’ve been painted as the villain. The truth is, I’ve never been convicted of any crime, and the accusations against me are just that—accusations. In fact, my ex-girlfriend was convicted for violating a restraining order I filed against her after she assaulted me.
I’m tired of letting the lies define me. I’ve made mistakes, but I am not the monster people have painted me to be. If you’ve supported me through this, I’m grateful. If you’ve believed the rumors, I understand, but now you know the truth.

Back in 2014, Miss Fortune were dropped by Sumerian Records after Sawyer was charged with domestic assault & battery. However, he was later exonerated of the charges, stating that the incident in question involved him attempting to stop a 40-year-old male from abusing his grandmother.
In 2020, Sawyer would make allegations of his own sexual misconduct and grooming against then Issues vocalist Tyler Carter, which ultimately led to Carter being fired from that band as a result.
