Chelsea Wolfe‘s third offering this year is a stripped down acoustic take on tracks featured on her latest album “She Reaches Out To She Reaches Out To She“. This condensed set is described as ‘the final chapter of the ‘She Reaches Out‘ triptych’, and follows this past August’s “Undone” EP. That collection saw the likes of Crosses, Godflesh‘s Justin K Broadrick and more remixing songs originally found on the aforementioned album.
A press release elaborated further on this forthcoming conclusion to the trilogy of sorts:
‘In Chelsea Wolfe’s She Reaches Out triptych, three voices echo across time, weaving through past, present, and future. Her music becomes a journey of transformation, evolving with each passage while staying deeply rooted in its origin.
Together, these three works form a cohesive tapestry spun from threads of memory, moment, and possibility. At the center stands She Reaches Out To She Reaches Out To She, grounded in the present. Next is Undone, which reimagines the dark landscapes of She Reaches Out To She Reaches Out To She, reshaping each track into something at once familiar and profoundly new by artists like ††† (Crosses), Boy Harsher, Full of Hell, and more. While disintegrated and reformed, the songs still carry the essence of where they began.
On ‘Unbound‘, Wolfe strips down songs from She Reaches Out‘ to their raw essence—just her voice, a guitar, or piano—capturing vulnerability and unfiltered truth. The music here is primal, like earth freshly turned. The music stands exposed, stripped and skyclad—each track a rite of passage, a descent into the heart. In this stark landscape, the cover of Spiritbox’s “Cellar Door” concludes the EP, fitting seamlessly into the triptych’s meditation on transformation and letting go.
Wolfe’s She Reaches Out triptych is a contemplation on the nature of change. It calls us to reach across time, to grasp the threads of what was and what could be, and to find strength in the act of becoming.’
As was mentioned above, a cover of Spiritbox‘s “Cellar Door” closes out the EP. Wolfe previously debuted her rendition of that track from the Canadian alternative metallers via an in-studio session for BBC Radio 6 this past spring. Wolfe also joined the band onstage earlier this month.
