My Chemical Romance‘s 2006 hit “Teenagers” has newly hit 1 billion plays on Spotify, marking the emo rockers first track to do so on that digital service provider. Ironically, that song was the fourth and final single to be launched from the group’s 4x multi-platinum album “The Black Parade“.
The aforementioned song first went gold in February of 2008 and was last certified 4x multi-platinum on its own in October of 2021. Given this latest accomplishment, one would suspect its due for some more accounting by the RIAA with further certifications in its future.
