Swollen Teeth have issued a new single by the name of “Family” ahead of their upcoming appearance at this weekend’s ‘Knotfest Iowa‘ in Des Moines, IA. The mysterious masked outfit caught the ear of both the ‘godfather of nü-metal’ producer Ross Robinson (Korn, Slipknot) and Slipknot‘s own Sid Wilson early on, aligning with the pair’s Blowed Out Records label venture. That label is also overseen by SideOneDummy Records co-founder Bill Armstrong.
Robinson coined the genre of ‘trü-metal’ to describe this outfit, with the latter commenting of this track: “New flowers bloom only once the wilted return to soil. This is our way of saying WELCOME to the world. FAMILY.”
Wilson also shared his thoughts, offering:
“Swollen Teeth, horns down movement. A safe space created to express and shed your feelings, and become a new, better version of yourself for your Family.”
Robinson added:
“‘Family‘ showcases the incredible empathy these guys possess. Their main concern is to be a place of safety and home for the ones who are or just feel thrown away. ST is a killer band with an amazing reason for ripping sick jams, I love that so much!”
