Slipknot turntablist Sid Wilson shared some video footage from a medical facility today, August 29th, where he was continuing to receive treatment for the burns he suffered following a and accident this past Friday, August 23rd, with a burn pile on his Iowan farm property. The footage shows the extent of the nasty burns he suffered in the accident, and is available below.
Speaking to Fox News on the accident, Wilson stated:
“My whole right arm is bandaged up, half of my left arm. My face is basically melted from nose down. But the swelling’s gone down, and they said the face is kind of amazing that it’s regenerative, it happens real fast, seems to heal quickly. I’ve had better days, I guess, but I’m alive, so I’m doing good.”
As for the incident that caused the injuries, he offered:
“A few nights ago, I lit it and let it burn down. So, the next day, I went to check it to see, you know, how much was left, if anything. And there was a certain amount of debris around the side still left, so I, like a dummy, [did] what I’m not supposed to do, but I added some gas to it.”
While he stated that he took the precaution of moving the gas can away from the pile, he did not engage in the safest of practices when it came to igniting the collection of assorted tree limbs and such, offering:
“…And then I started looking around for a long branch to kind of be at a distance to light it, and then I couldn’t find one immediately. So, my lack of patience got the better of me, and I was like, screw it. I’ll be all right, you know? And I squatted down and reached out and lit it, and it just, it was really humid out so there was still a lot of vapors lingering around in there, and it just … woof. Exploded.”
Despite the burns, Wilson drove his family to an urgent care facility, before being transferred to a facility better suited to treat his injuries, as he documented this past Friday. Known for his decades of daredevil antics during Slipknot‘s live performances, Wilson has remained a staple through the band’s live shows, having gutted out performances with broken bones and more.
Wilson also remains adamant that he will perform with his bandmates this Sunday, September 01st at the annual ‘Rocklahoma‘ festival in Pryor, OK, telling Fox News: “I’ll be there, man. I always find a way to pull it off.”
