Australia’s hard rock titans AC/DC are celebrating their 50th anniversary this year not only with touring, but also with gold-colored vinyl reissues of the bulk of their catalog. They’ve now also got another reason to celebrate, as a wave of new platinum & gold certifications in the United States have come their way in response to those albums being back on the charts. The RIAA newly bestowed the following list of certifications upon the band’s esteemed catalog today, July 08th.

  • The Razors Edge” (6x multi-platinum)

Back in 2021 Sony Music Publishing struck a global deal with Australian music and publishing company Alberts. That deal has allowed Sony to oversee the included rights to the catalog of AC/DC.

A platinum album/single in the United States represents 1,000,000 units, while gold signifies 500,000 units. Outside of traditional physical/digital sales, the certifications factor in digital streams/downloads with 10 permanent track downloads counting as 1 unit and 1500 on-demand audio/video streams from a particular album also counting as as a unit.
