Disturbed’s “The Sound Of Silence” Cover Hits 1 Billion Views On YouTube

Disturbed‘s 2015 cover of Simon & Garfunkel‘s 1965 single “The Sound Of Silence” is a gift that keeps on giving for the multi-platinum alternative metal band. Since launching that track as the third single from “Immortalized” back in December of 2015, Disturbed‘s rendition has become their most streamed track on leading digital service providers.

Disturbed‘s version last secured 3x multi-platinum status in the United States status back in November of 2017. However, it experienced a chart resurgence earlier this year, rocketing up the dance charts thanks to a popular remix done by Cyril Riley.

With a whole new audience being introduced to the cover, Disturbed have reaped the rewards, as their official YouTube upload of the music video for the track has recently crossed 1 billion views on the aforementioned streaming platform.

Despite a catalog boasting some impressive hits, this video marks the band’s first music video to hit the aforementioned milestone. Whether or not the cover will also join the 1 billion club on Spotify remains to be seen, with the track currently sitting at just over 771 million plays as of press time.
