Baard Kolstad, drummer for Norwegian progressive metal band Leprous, etc., is the latest musician featured in Drumeo‘s ‘For The First Time’ series. After correctly guessing some initial tracks by Guns N’ Roses, Van Halen and more that were thrown at him, Disturbed‘s 8x platinum 2000 hit “Down With The Sickness” became the song of choice. Amusingly, Kolstad, who is in his early 30s, correctly identified the first few tracks thanks to their inclusion in early entries in the ‘Guitar Hero‘ video game series.
Kolstad was presented with a version of “Down With The Sickness” that had all of the percussion removed, leaving him a blank slate to create his own parts. Below you can watch him work through it, lay down his final take, and even see the reaction of Disturbed‘s drummer Mike Wrengren.
