Hear Carlie Hanson Pay Tribute To Two Grunge Legends With Her Cover Of Alice In Chains’ “Nutshell”

Alternative pop musician Carlie Hanson has paid tribute to two fallen grunge stars; Alice In Chains vocalist/guitarist Layne Staley and Nirvana vocalist/guitarist Kurt Cobain. With today (April 05th) marking the 30th anniversary of Cobain‘s death and the 22nd anniversary of Staley‘s passing, Hanson has released the following cover of Alice In Chains‘ 1994 track, “Nutshell“.

Speaking ahead of the release of this cover, Hanson stated:

“Thanks to my momma Jean and my big sis Cass… I grew up listening to alllll kinds of sick ass music. Grunge was something we all loved. I remember them blasting Alice In Chains on long drives when I was like 10 probably, but not up until recently did I fall down a rabbit-hole of everything they have out there.

Their MTV unplugged stunned me. I was so blown away and inspired by their performance that I decided to cover “Nutshell”… It will come out on April 5th in remembrance of Layne and Kurt. Thank you to @primarywave and Layne’s sweet momma for allowing this to happen. Im excited for you guys to hear my lil version. Love you.”
