Fans attending today’s (September 24th) ‘Furnace Fest‘ in Birmingham, AL were able to take in what was bill as the final live show for post-hardcore outfit As Cities Burn. However, while that set effectively ended the band’s career, its members have instead decided to continue on together in a wholly new outfit dubbed My Only Passenger.
The group made the announcement as part of the performance and also streamed that final set via their newly launched social media account for the aforementioned new outfit. One fan of the band complained that billing today’s set as a ‘final show’ was a ‘cheap bait and switch’, to which the reinvented band directly commented:
“ACB had its final show. No direction yet on new music, but it won’t be ACB. Blank slate. Fresh start. Sky’s the limit. Our apologies for disappointing you, friend.”
Interestingly, it would appear that the idea for tis new undertaking has been kicking around for some time, as a track from an apparent gestative version of the Mandeville, LA-based band was released last December. By the looks of it, this early track may not be indicative of what the group will be pursuing with their future output.
