Slipknot’s Long-Shelved “Look Outside Your Window” Album Tentatively Due In 2024

The long-delayed Slipknot side project album “Look Outside Your Window” may now finally emerge in 2024. That effort came to be amid the recording sessions for Slipknot‘s platinum-certified 2008 album “All Hope Is Gone“. Several key members of the masked metal marauders (frontman Corey Taylor, percussionist M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan, guitarist Jim Root and turntablist Sid Wilson) branched off during those sessions, and created this long-shelved record on their own.

Over the years, the record often been compared to be more in the vein of Radiohead and the like by those who partook in the sessions. Speaking with NME recently, Taylor was asked about the status of that record. He responded:

“… I was talking to Clown about it the other day and he goes, ‘One of the reasons it hasn’t come out is because you keep putting shit out which keeps conflicting with when I want to release it!’ I was like, ‘Fuck dude, why didn’t you tell me?’ He says, ‘Fuck, Taylor – you just got too much shit!’ It’s sounding like he’s got a release date that he can finally lock in and I have promised him that I won’t release anything that will ruin that. I think it’s going to be next year – finally, man!

I just went back and listened to all that stuff and it’s so dope and so different. People going into this thinking it sounds like ‘Slipknot’ are so wrong. It doesn’t sound like anything Slipknot have ever done, that’s why it’s its own thing. To me, it really is the long-lost album. The music is so beautiful, it probably has some of my favorite melodies that I’ve done, and people are really going to dig it. Clown did a really good job.”

Earlier this year, Clown revealed a 2023 release was in the running for “Look Outside Your Window“. However, it would appear Corey Taylor‘s forthcoming sophomore solo album “CMF2” got in the way of those plans. That latter outing is presently due out on September 15th.
