Fans Asked To Remove Face Paint & Masks At Recent Ghost Show Due To Venue “Miscommunication”

A policy enforced by The Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre in Maryland Heights, MO recently caused some controversy amid Ghost‘s headlining show with Amon Amarth this past Friday, August 11th.

The theatrical nature of the gold-certified Swedish metal outfit’s live performances certainly clashed with the venue’s policy, which barred entry for concertgoers adorned by face paint and masks. While fans were apparently free to dress up once in the venue, those who chose to would be unable to purchase concessions. Furthermore, masks would be removable upon request by staff. The policy was apparently put in place long before the show took place.

Given that a sizable portion of Ghost‘s fanbase often dress up like members of the band, the policy led to much confusion. Some fans claim to have been turned away or forced to remove their makeup/masks to be admitted. Both the venue and Ghost themselves have since issued separate statements on the matter.

The Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre stated:

“Thanks to everyone who joined us for an amazing Ghost show last night. On behalf of our crew, we’d like to apologize for a miscommunication about removing face paint. This was not directed by Ghost. If you experienced issues at last night’s show, please reach out to us at hollywood[email protected] so we can improve for future shows.”

Ghost themselves offered, “We wish to inform you that we will ALWAYS encourage creative expression, we will NEVER stifle it.” Ghost and Amon Amarth‘s summer tour will roll on as follows:
