Black Sheep” has newly been launched as the latest single from Crown The Empire‘s forthcoming new album “Dogma“. Rise Records have that outing headed for an April 28th release date.

Regarding this latest track, vocalist Andy Leo offered:

“We’ve tackled many lofty ideas with the singles we’ve released thus far but with ‘Black Sheep‘ we wanted to bring it back down to earth to our early days as a band.

When we were playing together in a garage and making songs with a ‘fuck you’ attitude, just for the sake of doing it. We kept that spirit alive with ‘Black Sheep‘ and aim to provide a solid 3:52 seconds of in-your-face energy that young crown would’ve loved. We hope you love it too.”

The Texan metalcore outfit have generated some notable controversy over the past months, with their guitarist/vocalist Brandon Hoover having been accused of domestic violence last year. Both the group and Hoover would go on to publicly deny the allegations in a pair of statements issued this past February.

Uproar on social media has still persisted however, with the band’s addition to Falling In Reverse‘s upcoming summer headlining tour having helped fuel a wave of controversy. Spiritbox themselves recently opted to drop off of that tour, apparently amid public pressure.

Per the various comments made, Spiritbox fans appeared to be angry that the band were choosing to tour with Falling In Reverse frontman Ronnie Radke, who has an infamously controversial past. Crown The Empire ‘s inclusion on the bill was also frequently mentioned as a source of ire.

Spiritbox themselves never specifically stated their reasons for withdrawing from the bill however. Given those recent developments though, it is somewhat ironic that Spiritbox vocalist Courtney LaPlante guests on Crown The Empire‘s forthcoming new album.

She appears on the previously released “In Another Life“. Notably, that song first emerged in April of 2021, long before the allegation against Hoover made headlines.
