Multi-platinum groove metal legends Pantera have announced two new German headlining shows for the spring. Those dates include June 02nd at the Schleyer-Halle in Stuttgart and June 03rd at the Messe Dresden in Dresden. Those dates follow the band previously being removed from this year’s ‘Rock im Ring‘ and ‘Rock am Park‘ festivals and their planned May 31st show in Vienna, Austria being cancelled.
Online outcry and local political pressure is understood to have been the reasoning behind those cancellations. The reason for said uproar is of course the actions of Pantera vocalist Phil Anselmo at the 2016 ‘Dimebash‘. During that performance, Anselmo was seen to have gestured a Nazi salute while uttering the phrase ‘white power’. Anselmo would later issue several public apologies, eventually disputing claims that he was a racist.
Pantera of course reunited late last year with Black Label Society, etc. guitarist/vocalist Zakk Wylde and Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante joining Anselmo and fellow Pantera veteran Rex Brown (bass.) That lineup will be touring across the globe in the months to come, here’s what’s booked so far:
