Ghost mastermind Tobias Forge has voiced his admiration for funk rock icons Red Hot Chili Peppers, and in particular their guitarist John Frusciante. Forge, who serves as the various front personas for his theatrically-inclined gold-certified Swedish hard rock outfit, was recently asked by Classic Rock if he could be the guitarist for any band for a day, which one would it be.
Forge himself has lamented in the past that his Ghost duties have seen him shift further away from guitar. Prior to forming Ghost, he was vocalist/guitarist for Swedish death metal band Repugnant.
Responding to the question above, Forge offered:
“Good question. There’s several bands. I would have loved to be what Mick Taylor was in 1969, coming into the Rolling Stones at their best era – but I would have stayed around! That would have been a great experience. Very fun music to play.
Definitely within the limits of what I can play really well. I spent a lot of time as a kid learning how to play guitar. Otherwise I would love to play in the Red Hot Chili Peppers; I love what John Frusciante does.”
