Ghost’s Tobias Forge Speaks On How ‘Star Wars’ Helped Inspired The Latest Nameless Ghoul Attire

Theatrically inclined Swedish metal outfit Ghost have long taken to establishing a rich back story behind their evolving image and live performances. With each album cycle comes a refresh of the pageantry, cast and costumes.

While a sinister take on papal visuals has been predominant through their earlier career, the visual refresh on the cycle for their latest album “Impera” has seen the Nameless Ghouls take a big leap forward. Those anonymous musicians serve as the backing band for mastermind Tobias Forge and their latest revamp finds them sporting a surprisingly futuristic bent.

As it turns out, that overhaul was in part inspired by the Tusken Raiders featured in the ‘Star Wars‘ universe. Speaking with Revolver of that, Forge stated:

“I wanted a sort of militant look, but any time you have people in uniform and in plural, you end up with a slight military vibe. But I wanted to progress that from cult members to more like an army. So you have a little bit of Thirties European there, and also old air-pilot helmets. As a Star Wars fan, I’ve always been into the Tusken Raiders and their sort of lifeless look, so that was also part of it.”

The group are presently out on a European/UK tour with Uncle Acid And The Deadbeats and Twin Temple:
