Swedish theatrical metal band Ghost have scored a chart high for themselves with the release of their fifth studio album “Impera“. That record opened at #2 on the Billboard 200 chart, and also racked up the largest sales week of any album released thus far this year.
Billboard report that the group’s latest notched up 70,000 album-equivalent units during its first week of availability, 62,500 of which were traditional album sales. Streaming-equivalent units comprised 7,000 copies, while track-equivalent albums made up for 500.
Billboard note that the band’s decision to launch the album across several formats, including, vinyl, CD, cassette and digital helped to bolster that figure. The impressive first week tally of “Impera” managed to best the band’s previous career high opening of 66,000 units with their 2018 record, “Prequelle“.
