Quicksand have confirmed that Cave In, Mutoid Man, etc. guitarist/vocalist Stephen Brodsky will be joining them on guitar for their immediate touring. There had been much speculation about Brodsky‘s involvement in the band after he appeared in their “Colossus” live video that was released earlier this month.
Speaking with The Big Takeover ahead of that video’s release, the band’s vocalist/guitarist Walter Schreifels commented of their then unannounced new guitarist:
“…We’ve got somebody really, really cool joining us for the upcoming tour and we sound so heavy and awesome. It sounds more like the records than ever. Where we were more jammy in the past, because I was doing all the guitar work, now I think we can be a lot punchier. I’m really excited about it, I think it’s going to sound great.”
Brodsky commented on Twitter:
Pretty pumped to play guitar in @QuicksandNYC for their upcoming fall US tour! The sound and vibe of that band has been ingrained in my musical DNA since I was a 14 year-old townie rocker hanging out in @newburycomics one day while “Slip” was being cranked in the store.

Clip from a recent video of us performing the song “Colossus” from their excellent new album. To be clear, I didn’t participate in the making of the album, but I’ve enjoyed wrapping my head around the songs from it that we’ll play on the road.
