Megadeth Enlist Their Ex-Bassist James LoMenzo For Immediate Touring

Megadeth have announced that they will be rejoined by their former bassist James LoMenzo (Firstborne) on the road this year during their co-headlining trek with Lamb Of God. That run has been dubbed ‘The Metal Tour Of The Year‘ and will also see Trivium and Hatebreed performing.

Vocalist/guitarist Dave Mustaine commented:

“I’m happy to announce that former bassist and Megadeth alumni James LoMenzo has graciously stepped in on the Metal Tour of The Year. Tour rehearsals just began, and we cannot wait to start crushing North America.”

LoMenzo added:

“I’m super stoked to be rejoining Megadeth for the upcoming Metal Tour of the Year. There are no better fans than Megadeth fans, I can’t wait to get out there and shred some Megadeth music with you all.”

LoMenzo will be filling in the vacant slot left in the wake of the firing of David Ellefson earlier this year. Ellefson was let go from the band after several sexually explicit videos of himself leaked online, he is said to be seeking legal action against the leaker.

Following Ellefson‘s firing from the band, his previously recorded bass tracks for the band’s upcoming new album “The Sick, The Dying And The Dead” were replaced in the studio by an as-yet unannounced bassist. Initial speculation pointed towards Testament‘s Steve Di Giorgio being the studio replacement.

The official press release on LoMenzo‘s new temporary role in the band did not offer any clarity on who played bass tracks on the upcoming Megadeth album. Dates for ‘The Metal Tour Of The Year‘ with Lamb Of God, Trivium and Hatebreed can be found below:
