Red Hot Chili Peppers Selling The Publishing Rights To Their Catalog For Upwards Of $140 Million


The Red Hot Chili Peppers are selling the publishing rights to their song catalog for upwards of $140 million, according to a report from Roilling Stone. The Hipgnosis Songs Fund are expected to be the new owners of the band’s catalog, which has sold over 60 million albums worldwide to date.

Among them the 7x multi-platinum “Blood Sugar Sex Magik“, the 6x multi-platinum “Californication” and the 3x multi-platinum “Stadium Arcadium“. It has been reported that the group’s catalog generates $5 million to $6 million in net publishers’ share.

A twelfth studio album from the band is currently in the works with guitarist John Frusciante back in the lineup.
