Actress Evan Rachel Wood has shared more details of the alleged abuse she endured during her relationship with Marilyn Manson (aka Brian Warner). The pair were together from 2007 to 2010 and at one point were engaged. Earlier this week, Wood came forward to publicly name Manson as her past abuser. Her accusations were bolstered by several other women also coming forward at the same time.
While her accusations stated that she had been ‘horrifically abused for years’ and ‘brainwashed and manipulated into submission’, they were made far more disturbing by this past testimony she gave on being abused in front of a House Judiciary Subcommittee back in 2019. Wood declined to name her abuser at that time, later stating on social media that she opted not to as “They threatened to kill me or have me killed”. Her silence was eventually broken this past Monday, February 01st, when she publicly accused Manson for the first time.
Wood gave that testimony while championing for The Phoenix Act. That act was eventually signed into law in California last year and saw the statute of limitations for reporting a domestic violence incident in California extended from three years to five.
Wood has continued to further her allegations against Manson this week via her Instagram stories. Taking to her Instagram in the days since making her initial accusation, she shared several more allegations against Manson, they include:
“I was called a “jew” in a derogatory manner. He would draw swastikas over my bedside table when he was mad at me. I heard the “n” word over and over. Everyone around him was expected to laugh and join in. If you did not or (god forbid) called him out, you were singled out and abused more. I have never been more scared in my life.”
“My mother is Jewish and I was raised with the religion. Because she was converted and wasnt of Jewish decent he would say things like, “thats better” because I wasnt “blood jewish”
“Brian and I never had a “BDSM” relationship. We didnt even have “kinky” sex. We weren’t having sexual intercourse when i was being tortured, before or after. I thought I was going to die the entire time.”
Wood would also share photos of two tattoos Manson had received after the they started dating, including an the ‘M-swastika’ logo and a skull and bones on his arm which she implied referenced a Nazi death’s head symbol. Screencaps of these various new allegations shared by Wood can be found over at People.com.
While Manson would deny the initial allegations made against him in a statement of his own, numerous organizations and people key to his career have severed ties with him in their wake. His manager of 25 years, Tony Ciulla recently cut ties with him. Likewise his label Loma Vista Recordings and talent agency CAA have dropped him. In addition to further losing his roles in ‘American Gods‘ and’Creepshow‘, a Californian state senator has called for police/FBI investigation into the matter.
Wood herself continues to share various information related to her allegations and why she made them public now via her Instagram stories. She also shared various sections from this newly published piece on Metal Hammer, which consulted with several experts on domestic violence and examined various aspects of how Wood‘s allegations have been received amongst fans and the media this week.
