Ghost Still Planning To Release Their New Album This Winter

Ghost will be sticking to their plan of releasing a new studio album this winter, despite the uncertainty as to when the band can properly tour behind it. Frontman Tobias Forge, who most recently took on the persona of ‘Papa Emeritus IV‘ in the band, confirmed his plans to VK.

Asked whether the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic influenced the lyrical direction of the album, despite Forge having a concept outlined in advance, Forge replied:

“I have already made a record about God’s wrath and doomsday, even if ‘Prequelle‘ was not about just infection from a medical perspective. But I have a feeling that there will be plenty of doomsday and quarantine-confirming records in the future [from other bands], and I think I might not participate in it.”

The group’s current plans for 2021 touring aren’t expected to take place until the fall of 2021. Notably, Forge also mentioned he isn’t entirely sold on potentially playing smaller, socially distanced shows just yet.
