’68 will be releasing a new EP titled “Love Is Ain’t Dead” this Friday, September 04th. If you haven’t been keeping up, the band recorded an as-yet unreleased new album titled “Give One, Take One” with Nick Raskulinecz (Deftones, Korn) last year.
While there’s no word yet on when you can expect to hear that, the songs that appear on this upcoming EP weren’t cannibalized from that record, but rather the product of a week-long recording session with Raskulinecz earlier this year. The band’s frontman Josh Scogin was recently interviewed by Altpress.com and said of those sessions:
“We drove from Atlanta to Nashville. We drove separate vehicles, not necessarily because of social distancing, but just because it was easier. It was just me and him, and then when we got there, Nick. We made it work, made sure we hand sanitizer all the time and recorded it real quick.
We had drums done in a couple of days, and then I think we spent two, maybe three days on everything else. And then Nick took a while to mix it because he was doing some other projects. But it was quick for us.”
Speaking alongside the below newly debuted track “Bad Bad Lambo“, he commented:
“…Now, I know that riffs (no matter how dirty) won’t stop racism or stupidity, but never underestimate the power of art. Maybe these riffs can help people remember we are all just meat, wrapped around some bone.
All of the complex diversities that we bring to the table, after that fact, should be celebrated. It is what separates us from the machines. Humans are beautiful. Maybe I’m a bit overdramatic as to what riffs can do, but let me leave you with this….There is still more love in the world than hate. It might get far less media coverage, but I assure you Love Is Ain’t Dead.”
The track listing for “Love Is Ain’t Dead” runs as follows:
01 – “Bad Bad Lambo”
02 – “The Lesser Of Two Upheavals”
03 – “Rock On” (David Essex cover)
04 – “Nervous Passenger”
