Metallica & Their Manager Looking To Acquire Classic Rock Song Catalogs Via Worldwired Music IP Fund


Metallica are involved in a new investment venture dubbed the Worldwired Music IP Fund. According to Variety, also involved in the collective are Metallica co-manager Cliff Burnstein, ex-Fender president/COO Matt Janopaul and former Sony/ATV co-president Rick Krim. The venture is said to be headed up by former Morgan Stanley investment banker Paul Donahue.

Together the collective are said to be looking to acquire various intellectual property rights, with a keen focus being devoted to the rights of classic rock music catalogs. It is unclear what other type of IP assets the venture will also be seeking out. Variety report that considerable resources ranging in the $300-$500 million range have been put behind the venture.
