Man Passes Away From Coronavirus He Allegedly Contracted At Ghost’s Mexico City Show

A 41-year old man has become the first Coronavirus-related death in Mexico, with various press outlets, including BBC and El Universal, speculating he may have contracted the virus while attending Ghost‘s March 03rd show at the Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City, Mexico on March 03rd, 2020.

The man had been hospitalized since March 09th and has been shown to have had an underlying condition—diabetes—which may have played a role in his passing. The show in question had an estimated attendance of 50,000 people. Speculation that he contracted the virus at the show has emerged after a 40-year-old man who attended the same show has since tested positive for COVID-19. He remains in stable condition.

Mexican authorities have been criticized for being slow to act in putting a limit on public gathering sizes in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic. While numerous concerts were curtailed by travel restrictions and more, large shows like Guns N’ Roses‘ ‘Vive Latino‘ set last weekend went ahead as planned to an audience of some 65,000.
