Slipknot Originally Planned To Release Their Experimental “Look Outside Your Window” Album This Past Christmas

If Slipknot had stuck to their original plans, you could have been listening to their experimental album “Look Outside Your Window” at your leisure this very moment. The band’s percussionist M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan recently revealed to NME that they had originally intended to release that album this past Christmas.

Described by Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor as having a ‘Radiohead‘ vibe, the experimental outing was recorded during the sessions for Slipknot‘s platinum 2008 album, “All Hope Is Gone“. That record was more of a side project for several members of the band as Taylor and Crahan were joined by guitarist Jim Root and turntablist Sid Wilson for that outing.

When asked about his thoughts on the album by NME, Crahan replied:

“‘Look Outside Your Window‘ is a very unique art-piece on its own. It’s sort of timeless in my opinion, so I try not to worry about it too much. I’ve waited this long for it to be right and it just never has. We were going to release it way early on this album cycle, but this one [“We Are Not Your Kind“] takes precedence. It’s not meant to be confused or watered down for marketing purposes. It’s really just another piece of the puzzle and the imagination that’s missing. People might really need it.”

He was then asked if he expects it to be released this year, here’s how he responded:

“It was scheduled for Christmas but I just quit asking because I don’t want it to interfere with this – and mainly because of what it is. It needs its own space. We’re having a good time enjoying this album and we have no ego with that. It’s just beautiful art that we want to share in the right way. It’s going to come out on this album cycle. It’ll just be this thing that happens and people won’t even know.”
