Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” Music Video Hits 1 Billion Views On YouTube

Nirvana‘s 1991 breakout single “Smells Like Teen Spirit” has reached a major milestone, having hit 1 billion views on the official upload of the music video for it on YouTube. The song would go on to fully ignite the grunge movement and was last certified platinum by the RIAA in April of 1992. It helped propel the band’s 1991 major label debut, “Nevermind” to diamond status (10 million units) in the United States.

You may recall that the official video for “Smells Like Teen Spirit” currently sits as the second most viewed video on YouTube from the 90s with Guns N’ Roses‘ “November Rain” currently leading the pack at nearly 1.3 billion views. It first hit one billion views this past October.
