The enduring classic track spawned from the band’s 18x multi-platinum selling 1987 debut album has officially reached 1 billion views on YouTube, making it the first 1980s music video to so. A-Ha‘s “Take On Me” video trails behind at #2 with 943 million views.

The accomplishment is another feather in the cap for the band with their video for “November Rain” off of 1991’s 7x multi-platinum album “Use Your Illusion I” having notched up 1.2 billion views on YouTube itself. It stands as the most viewed music video of the 90s with Nirvana‘s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” holding the #2 position with 968 million views.
