It’s time for AC/DC to clear up some space once again as they recently notched up a number of new sales/streaming milestones for a handful of their singles in the United States. Following word that the band’s 1980 album “Back In Black” was certified 25x multi-platinum on December 06th, 2019, comes this new wave of individual single certifications for tracks from the album.
Among the certifications are “Back In Black” and “You Shook Me All Night Long” both being certified 3x multi-platinum, while “Hell’s Bells” and “Shoot To Thrill” have both been certified platinum. All of these new certifications were made official by the RIAA on December 12th, 2019.
A new album from the band rumored to feature a returning Brian Johnson on vocals and Phil Rudd on drums is allegedly due out in 2020.
A platinum album in the United States represents 1,000,000 units, while gold signifies 500,000 units. Outside of traditional physical/digital sales, the certifications factor in digital streams/downloads with 10 permanent track downloads counting as 1 unit and 1500 on-demand audio/video streams from a particular album also counting as as a unit.
