AC/DC and A Day To Remember are among the latest wave of artists to receive new platinum and gold certifications in the United States. First up, AC/DC‘s landmark 1980 album has hit a staggering 25x multi-platinum as of December 06th, 2019. It was previously certified 22x multi-platinum in December of 2007.
As for A Day To Remember, their track “I’m Made Of Wax, Larry What Are You Made Of?” off of 2009’s gold-certified “Homesick” has newly gone gold as well as December 06th. That song features The Devil Wears Prada frontman Mike Hranica.
A platinum album in the United States represents 1,000,000 units, while gold signifies 500,000 units. Outside of traditional physical/digital sales, the certifications factor in digital streams/downloads with 10 permanent track downloads counting as 1 unit and 1500 on-demand audio/video streams from a particular album also counting as as a unit.
