Corey Taylor Speaks Of Slipknot’s “Dark And Vicious” New Album

Slipknot, etc. vocalist Corey Taylor recently spoke with Des Moines Register about the band’s new album, their upcoming August 10th, 2019 live performance at the Iowa State Fair Grandstand in Des Moines, IA and more. In regards to the new material the band have been working on in the studio lately for their forthcoming new album, Taylor offered “(It’s) gonna be evil. It’s going to be ridiculous, let’s put it that way.”

Furthering his point, he went on to say that “All Out Life“—the new song they premiered this past Halloween—isn’t “nearly as dark and vicious as the rest of the stuff that we have that we’re working on.” As for the lyrical content, Taylor says that his battle with depression and a resulting divorce unfolding as he maintained his sobriety helped shape his lyrical inspiration:

“All I was doing was giving and I found myself absolutely, completely tapped. You could see it in my skin. You could see it in my eyes. That’s basically the journey I’m going to take people on this album… show them what happens to depression when you have no chemicals to fall back on. It’s a pretty dark ride.”

A tentative summer release is currently in the cards for the effort with the band having been tracking it in recent weeks with producer Greg Fidelman (Metallica, Slayer).
